A: they have to calm all the time. dont try to accuse all their suspects as a cheater. learn how to catch them from here or any other game websites. never giveup calling help for their clan members. dont kick-ban players if they re not %100 sure. send their demos to the UAA and get a proffessional comments about the demos.

A: first they have to know, this is only a game. they learn to play while playin. search for a better gear to use. play on different servers for face all kind of players. and playin in fair ways. coz cheaters are losers. i think they dont like to play any game, only satisfy their egos. this game is for fun, never forget this..

A:  Arebias, my boss, told me I had to or he would fire me...hehe.  All of the servers I admin for are UAA tagged.

Q: What were your first impressions of the Uaa, and have they changed now that you are a member?  
A:  Shocked and impressed that there was such an 'organization'.  Admins are very professional.  Now, I just wish more server admins would contribute to the site beyond just uploading demos and grabbing a ban list. ___________________________________________________________  

Q: Any Advice you have for new Server Admins?  
A:  Be patient and professional.  Do not stoop to the level of the accused.  Be the adult and make them look like the bad guy that they are.  Have good communication with your fellow server admins and players.  Do more than just play and ban people.  Go to other server forums and the UAA and watch demos of already banned people so you know what to look for.  We don't want anyone being falsely accused (it's embarrassing).  Use tools like GameServers, HSLW, TeamSpeak and Ventrilo.  Talk to other admins from different servers and find out what works for them.  When you get regulars on your server, they like it when there is a competent admin on, because they don't have to worry about a hacker or jerk disrupting the game.

A:  Do not get frustrated and stick with it.  You will eventually come around and earn more respect if you keep coming back.  When you get that respect you will get more confidence and do better.  Go to an empty server and practice everything you will use in game.  In game, practice being a medic and helping your team.  Spectate everyone, not just the good players.  Learn from other peoples mistakes.  Have fun, it's only a game!   ____________________________________________

A:  Admin on four servers, don't have time for any others. ___________________________________________________  

Q: Hopes for the future of Urt?  
A:  I want to see a mute for radio spammers or a max number of spams a player can relay.  Or see radio spammers get auto kicked just like team killers so I don't have to waste my time chatting.  I would like to have extra grenades included in extra ammo.    If UrT ever goes away, I guess I will just have more time.  A LOT more time.

A:  We were able to get both teams packed in the tower on Ramelle and we all jumped off.  Unfortunately, you can only hear the first guy scream.  (You don't know how difficult it was not to drop a grenade.)    Wait, that is another hope I have for the future of UrT...to be able to hear everyone scream at the same time when they all jump out of the tower. ___________________________________________________

A:Well, I like what the UAA stands for.Even before the death of punkbuster, there still was needed some way server admins could communicate and share problem players, information, and banlists etc.
There is a dedicated group of people here that spend there time freely to accomplish one thing, and that of course is to keep this game fun to play.

A:My first impression of the UAA was this: "Wow there is actually a group of people who care enough to keep UT alive" I discovered it was the only real resource we had left to keep our servers clean. The only change I have noticed is the popularity is increasing rapidly, and mabye they are more receptive now to others opinions than they used to be.

A:Lol umm, yes : You most definitely need a thick skin, make the rules for your server and stick with them no matter what.Give no quarter to hackers.
And above all try to go out of your way to be fair to your players.

A:No matter how badly you play at first dont cheat!! lol .Practice!! Practice !! Practice!! Spectate alot and learn. Learn to strafe, and if you want to be really good use some kind of voice and play as a team. Learn to compensate for server-lag(I still have alot of trouble with that)Oh yeah, when you get to the point when you think you might be getting really good, go play against Civil over at Deaths server, he'll shrink a swollen head real fast :):)

A: After enjoying the game and realizing the amount of hax and that UAA was trying to seriously do something about them, it was/is an extension of running a decent server operation.

Beer-Garden only supports multi-platform open source games. We maintain 3-4 other game type servers besides UrT from our dedicated server at the Savvis data center in Dallas, TX. UrT is my preferred FPS.

A: As mentioned, here were people serious about improving the quality of gaming for a great game. When I first joined I could tell Hippie was getting a little overwhelmed and it was more than I could do to offer to help. I'm glad to see a few new faces have stepped in with enthusiasm. It has also inspired myself to try to pick up my activity again with the UAA.

Q: Any Advice you have for new Server Admins?

A: As everyone is quick to say, it is your server and you can do what you want, and I agree, but my advice is-

Slow to anger, and slow to wield the ban stick. A little discussion to remind your gamers (and jerks) that they are guests goes a long way to making long term supporters instead of ban evaders that come back griefing. Chat, mute and kick should be the first tools of defense.

A: Talking about being on a server: Be polite. We will bend over backwards to help a new player that is polite, but a rude noob won't be with us long I'm afraid.

A: Effective anti-cheat system. Something more effective than just an IP ban system. The game play has been tweaked much more than the admin side of it. Last game I spent allot of time admining was Tremulous. It had an incredible admin package compared to UrT. (Before that was Far Cry.)

A: Since I started admining game servers, I've always tried to keep them clean from cheaters and assholes. Once landed to urt, I've found in UAA the only real effort to stop cheaters around. Being a volunteer organization with volunteer servers makes people inside it really involved, all fighting together to ban cheaters. I've also met some very good admins and I can say friends, who share my same intentions.
Since then my ideas haven't changed and I can say they got stronger.

A: Keep your server under control, to guarantee a clean and funny game to anyone is on. Also try to get your players more involved and ask them to fight cheaters with you, recording demos when needed.
A suggestion: don't give rcon away to people you don't trust 101%. This is often the first cause of bad behavior towards players.

A: What can I say. Main purpose of a game is having fun. So I can just suggest new players to have as much fun as they can (obviously in the full respect of anyone else's game and fun). Don't be stupid: you won't find any fun with cheats.

A: I played UrT quite a few years back and was not willing to give it the the time it deserved. Then back in March of this year I was re-introduced to the game and have been playing it ever since. I think the key attraction to UrT is the community. I have met some really great players that care for the future of the game.

A: I started Dallas TDM 4.1 [UAA] on August 5th of this year. This was my first experience with running a game server and maintaining a supporting web site and forum. So far it has worked out really well and that is in no small part because of the team of Admins that I have helping to make everthing work out and run smoothly. Thank's to you all.

Q: How did you come to the Uaa? (any story behind it?)

A: I had seen the references on the Seattle TDM forum and in other forums such as the Urban Terror official web site. I knew that if we were going to be dedicated to the idea of reducing the amount of hackers we could not do it alone. The UAA is the only logical choice as far as I am concerned. Clean players do not want to play on a server with hackers. The only way for the server to succeed in bringing back the regulars would be to take all resources available and use them to our advantage. The UAA serves this purpose.

A: After joining the UAA and getting an idea of the behind the scenes work that goes on I have developed an even greater amount of pride and enthusiasm knowing that it does make a differance in the fight against the constant barage of hacks developed on a weekly basis. Because it is a volunteer system, where the community it's self has the sole responsibility of keeping the game clean, those that choose to help out seem to be really dedicated to the game and that, to me, is a good thing.

Q: Any Advice you have for new Server Admins?

A: First and foremost read and learn from what others have allready posted in the various forums on setting up and running a server. Have a good amount of patience on hand for those that come in the game as a new UrT player and may have some name that is not appropriate or team kill. Chances are they just don't know that it is wrong. They may just turn out, over the long run, to be dedicated to the game and a consistent player that will prolong the life of UrT. As far as hacking goes; I think everyone knows that cheating is wrong from the get go. For that reason I do not have a great deal of tolerance for the hacker!

Also take it easy on the noobs. There is no reason at all to belittle a new player in UrT. In the long run it will only decrease the amount kills I get! hehehe

Q: Any advice for new Players to Urt?

A: Stick with it! The dude that is plastering you every time you turn the corner now will be challenged by your game play eventually.

Find a server that is empty. Get in there and practice moving and jumping. You will never become great at the game unless you can move around the maps at ease with movements that make you a harder target to hit.

Make a point to practice fire control. The best players always shoot for the head and never 'Spray and Pray'. Practice shooting two or three round burst's and only when on target. Get good at making that index finger on your trigger button dance. tap tap tap tap tap tap.....

Never play only people on your skill level. Sometimes the server that you play on is only filled with the good players that are way above your level. That is the best way to improve your game. Search out players that are better than you and your game play will improve.

If the server is not real busy then take the time to spectate a good player and watch what they do. You can learn quite a bit from that. However if the server is busy then you are taking a slot that someone that wants to play could be using.

A: When I am not on my server I can be found on either Seattle TDM 4.1 or Deaths.

Q: Hopes for the future of Urt?

A: Well I am looking forward to the next UrT release. I have read about some improvements that will further improve the gaming experience. I am also hoping for the UAA participating servers to continue to increase. The more that participate in the ban list and posting and reporting of hackers definately has a direct impact on the amount of hackers that we have to deal with.

Q: Best or funniest UrT story you care to share?

A: Well that would probably be the story of my first night on UrT and the Seattle TDM game server. I have been known to drink a beer from time to time. On that night I had drank about 12 or more and was feeling pretty good and found humor where others might not have. My friend told me we need to get on and play this game. He said it was alot of fun.

After playing for a short period of time I realized that I was never going to get a kill on the other team but these guys here were not anticipating an attack from within and they were, therefore, easy prey! Hehehe

Yes I intentionally team killed. Multiple times....

I was drunk so I thought it was real funny. They didn't. I was quickly kicked and banned. My friend, Hopwood, called me on the phone and said "Dude what in the hell are you doing"? I said that it was just a game....what was the big deal? He then explained to me that it wasn't just a game and that this kind of behavior was not tolerrated. He said that they would ban me everywhere via the UAA. That sobered me up!

After Hopwood and Dallas requested that they give me another chance, and they agreed, I developed a deep rooted respect for the game and the Seattle TDM game server and it's Admins.

Maybe I should have kept that one a secret! Hehehe

A: I work in the New Home/Commercial Steel Reinforced Concrete Construction industry. I don't have any particular title per say. I just do what needs to be done. Within reason.

A: I am a Amateur Radio Operator some times. I also play a mean guitar from time to time. And I have been known to write a song or two. I take a gun out in the woods to bring home dinner. And I take a fishing rod to various bodies of water to diversify my diet.

Hello everyone, 

      This month we begin adding some new color to the site, and a bit more sense
of community. You will notice a few new things to be added later on in the month.
The first of which is our First  Member of the Month.  Each month we will select a
member of the Uaa, either at random or by suggestion from the admins. We talk
a bit about who they are how they got into UrT, and what they hope to see for the

Q: How long have you been playing Urt? Clan history? (any other urt related infos)

A: I'm playing UrT since two years.

I was playing MMORPG's (Knight Online, best pvp platform ever) with Un`plugged, and after spending too much time (and money) on it, we decided to find a Free FPS, working on PC and Mac (for him). We tried some, and Urban Terror was the best !

After a few months of public TDM and CTF, i decided to search for a clan.

My first clan was Sygnosz, wich splitted after one year, and with some former Sygnosz players (few of them were my friends IRL : Un`plugged, Un`joint) we decided to create a new clan.

We were searching for some jokes with players names, saw that lots of them could be found with "Un", and Urban Nannies was born !

Q: How long have you been operating UrT servers?

A: about half a year, when the Nannies decided to have their servers.

Q: How did you come to the Uaa? (any story behind it?)

A: I was bored by cheaters, didn't know how to fight against, and Pluggy (Un`plugged) told me about an UrT admin alliance wich tried to "clear" UrT world. That idea sounded good to me, and i came to you, hoping to be helpfull.

Q: Mac? Windows? Linux? What is your OS of choice?

A: I'm playing on Windows Xp... Yes, I know... but my computer is old :D.

Q: What were your first impressions of the Uaa, and have they changed now that you are a member?

A: I liked the Uaa concept the first time i heard about it. People here want to have a clean game, and so do I. I was thinking "they do a good job", "Sounds funny to vote on cheaters".

But I didn't imagine how many cheaters demos were here, how long could be viewing / voting on these demos.

I'm really impressed by the work done by all admins here.

So yes, my impressions have changed ! Before being Uaa member, it was like "usefull ? sure, but it's only one more try to avoid cheat".

But now that I know what ppl are really doing here, the number of Member Servers (and the other ones) using the Banlist, the number of cheaters spotted (I think I voted on 250+ demos), it's more "How great job Uaa is doing ! We must keep doing this and try to involve more and more people in this Alliance !".

Q : Any Advice you have for new Server Admins?

A: Take care of players on your sever, try to admin it as well as u can. Keep your eyes open ! Spec and demo suspicious guys, get their Ip, and come here.

And... do not be afraid of requesting Uaa membership ! We always need more people to fight cheaters !

Q: Any advice for new Players to Urt?

A: Have fun !

Play TDM to discover the game, do some Jump-Maps to understand UrT specials movements, don't throw ur computer by the window if you take HS on HS on HS...

Persist on playing, smooth moves and good aiming will come with time.

And play CTF, this gametype rules !!!

Q: your favorite server besides your own to play on? why?

A: Difficult to answer... When I play, first thing I look (beside ping :P) is players who are playing (thx to Qtracker. Am I allowed to talk about it ?). And I go where I know I'll have fun.

So I play 85% on SE servers, and 15% on HSO, eC, SG & jF ones.

Q: Best or funniest UrT story you care to share?

A: Lots of funny stories in two years... But the first of them I remember was my first CTF ClanBase match, when I was in Sygnosz (funny now but worst at this time). If I remember well, we've played some PCW to see how a match looked like and for CB we played against Hype clan (Solitary, kenny, Blackrep...). The score was awfull, like 80/0 (maybe 1) in two 20 mins maps (Algiers and Austria).

It made me understand that I had to improve my skills ! Harsh for the first official match ! :D
